Couple counselling focuses on the relationship between two people, helping the couple to understand what is happening and to develop a more rewarding and fulfilling relationship. |
will each have time to tell me about you and your relationship. We will talk about your individual aims and expectations and discuss how counselling might help and if you want to proceed. |
Normally, sessions are weekly. How many sessions you will have is dependent on many factors. You should remember that counselling is not a quick fix; it takes time and can be emotionally taxing. For some, 4-6 sessions is sufficient whereas other couples come for several months. Sometimes we might agree that you to do specific tasks between sessions to help progress. |

My aim in couple counselling is; to listen to and respect what each of you has to say, to provide focus and challenge when appropriate, to offer ideas as to explanations and insights, to enable you communicate with each other so that you can hear and be heard, to enable you to understand how your patterns of behaviour have developed, how they are maintained and how you may change these. |
